Survey on support needs of special education teachers and community-based instruction of special classes in Korean inclusive middle and high schools

Abstract
In this research, we will propose basic data for model development of community-based instruction after we research community-based instruction of special classes in inclusive middle and high schools all over Korea and teacher¡¯s support needs. We surveyed 207 special education teachers of middle and high schools over the country with questionnaires of community-based instruction plan, community-based instruction implementation, community-based instruction evaluation and support, community-based instruction necessity, and community-based instruction support needs. Several survey results can be presented. Link between community-based instruction plan and IEP are poorly performed. Process and instruction strategy required for plan, implementation, and evaluation of community-based instruction are poorly done. Peers don¡¯t participate in a lot. Every middle and high school teacher agree on the necessity and effectiveness of community-based instruction, and teachers who joined lecture of community-based instruction need the community-based instruction more than those who didn¡¯t join the lecture. High school teachers need it more than middle school teachers.
